Overview
Thanks to its accessibility and beauty, the Langtang region is the most visited region after Annapurna and Everest. Very quickly a magnificent view of Langtang Lirung (7234 m), Ganesh Himal (7406 m) and other high mountain peaks opens up to you. During the trek to Lake Gosaikunda and Langtang , you will have the opportunity to discover the way of life of the Tamangs and Sherpas , inhabitants of this region.
The trail starts either from Dhunche or Syabrubesi or Melamchipul, Thimbu, Sundarijal. It passes through wooded areas of blue pine, oak, maple, spruce and rhododendron. Then it follows the bank of Langtang Khola River to Kyangjin Gompa. At Kyangin Gompa there are various options for short excursions. Kyangjin Ri (4773 m) offers spectacular mountain views. From Syabru, the trail leads to the lakes sacred to Hindus and Buddhists, the famous Lake Gosainkunda (4380 m), where pilgrims gather on certain days of the year to cleanse themselves of their sins. There are 5 Kundas (lakes) of which Gosainkunda is the largest and most sacred.
